Today we are talking about GPS device and the importance of SIM card in it. Does SIM affect the accuracy of the location given by the device? As in, if we use SIM of "X" telco instead of "Y", will we get a better accuracy of location? The answer is NO.
SIM is used only for providing internet to the device. The device has GPS module through which it communicates with satellites to get location data in the form of latitude & longitude. This data has to be sent to remote server for processing for which internet or GPRS acts as a medium. So a SIM with a better GPRS signal strength will send data seamlessly to the server in real time. If the signal strength is weak, data will still be sent to the server but probably with a time lag. So, from the above, you can understand that SIM card has no role to play in the location accuracy of the GPS device.
